Kiosk Substations
Kiosk substations are the state-of-the-art types of substations. All the technology inside them is set in a prefabricated - usually concrete or plate kiosk. The substations can be constructed with an inner or outer operation. Transformers, hv and lv technologies are accessible from outside through a door. Kiosk substations are usually connected to a cable line; from the outdoor line they can be connected with a cable drop.
EEIKA Brno, s.r.o. has developed its own system of mobile overground substations that meets the highest criteria. PET® substations can be used for 22 kV, 35 kV networks as well as for others. They are supplied in both distribution and consumer versions.
The PET® system is a very variable one. It can be set with the technological equipment of all prestigious marks as well as with the equipment supplied directly by the company EEIKA Brno, s.r.o., according to the needs of the substation keeper.
The building part of the compact PET® MINI substations consists of a compact reinforced concrete kiosk (made through a bell casting method) and a profiled roof panel.
The other types of substations consist of two basic parts - an overground scaffold and an underground base pit.
The underground base pit serves as a structural base and creates the cable area. At the same time, it has the function of a retaining pit for the case of oil leakage during a transformer breakdown. It is made from reinforced concrete through a bell casting method.
The smaller substations feature an overground self-supporting scaffold, made through a bell casting method. The panel thickness is 110 mm. The bigger substations (4,500 mm and longer) feature four peripheral armoured panels, a roof and a floor panel and partition walls according to the substation inner organization. The panel thickness is 80 or 100 mm according to the substation type.
The substation can be equipped with a lean, hip or saddle roof; the outer appearance can be adjusted to fit the environment.
According to the range of the technological equipment, the size and the inner organization of the substation is chosen in the project. The smallest substations for the capacity up to 630 kVA have the ground plan of 3500 x 2500 mm. With the help of the PET® SESTAVA modular system, substations of any extent can be done through grouping individual modules for supplying objects with a high consumption of energy and for structured networks.
From the fire-protection point of view, the substation is projected as one fire segment. Its walls and the ceiling has the fire resistance of 90 minutes, doors and air holes are classified as fire-open areas.
The distribution version of PET® substations are able to supply networks with various energy demandingness and structure. By default, they are used in networks of distribution companies in the Czech Republic. Consumer substations supply industrial zones, company premises, shopping centers, sport areas, hotels, petrol stations and other objects.
The PET® system offers a great amount of advantages - in particular the quickness of construction, investment and operational costs but also safety, environmental and aesthetical substation parameters. A kiosk substation can be erected on the intended place within a couple of days after the construction initiation (moreover, the dry construction enables works in the winter period as well).
Construction
EEIKA Brno, s.r.o. supplies kiosk substations "for immediate entry".
The first step is the consultancy regarding the type of the substation according to the intended use, followed by the project documentation, support or representation in the building proceedings and construction of the substation itself.
From the building point of view, the advantage of the kiosk technology is a very short building time at the place of operation – within days. The construction is done in a dry way – thus it can be executed in the winter period as well.
The substation is equipped with the technology in the assembly room. Then it is transported to the place by means of the usual road transport and it is located with one or two days, and connected after a revision.

PET® SESTAVA
The kiosk system PET® SESTAVA enables to build large substations for supplying objects with a big energy demandingness or extensive structured sections of the 22 kV distribution network, with a modification 35 kV networks and others.
For example, they can supply industrial zones with both the distribution and consumer outlets.
Substations PET® SESTAVA can be equipped with any amount of technology and they can have any installed capacity reached by connecting several transformers up to the capacity of 1000 kVA.
The building part of substations PET® SESTAVA consists of several standard PET® kiosks.Their number and size is designed directly according to technology planned. The base pit follows the ground plan of the substation and it is monolithed from the appropriate number of parts. A concrete supporting base plate is made under the whole platform of the substation so that its foot is homogenous and latter impacts of its movement are eliminated.
The inner organization of PET® SESTAVA substations is variable – it complies with the technological equipment planned.
Service + revision
Kiosk substations do not require any maintenance. Their technology is protected inside a concrete kiosk against weather and other impacts. In spite of this fact, EEIKA Brno, s.r.o. recommends and makes regular service inspections.
A regular service inspection consists of a visual check of the substation focused mainly on its building-technical condition, the condition of technology, oil leakage, contamination etc. Possible found faults are removed immediately or appropriate major repair is arranged.
EEIKA Brno, s.r.o. recommends regular service inspections once in a year
According to the ČSN 33 15 00 Standard, EEIKA Brno, s.r.o. makes the initial revision for each newly built substation. The same standard requires an interval of 5 years for the periodical revision of kiosk substations. EEIKA Brno, s.r.o. makes periodical revisions for all types of kiosk substations.
The result of a revision is a revision report and a protocol on acts made with test certificates enclosed (measuring, oil tests etc.).
Repairs
EEIKA Brno, s.r.o. makes repairs of all types of kiosk substations, from the diagnostics, through repairs up to the new putting in operation.
A standard repair is made, if it is possible to provide a supply from another source. The service team diagnoses the fault. They remove the constructional and minor technological faults at place; considerably damaged technological equipment is transported for a workshop repair that will be made in the premises of EEIKA Brno, s.r.o.
Emergency repair with a replacement
An emergency repair with a replacement is suitable upon technological equipment faults – mainly if it is necessary to restore the energy supply immediately.
The damaged equipment is replaced immediately with a new one with appropriate parameters and the energy supply is restored.
The equipment is repaired in a workshop and either installed back or the company EEIKA Brno, s.r.o. buys it with a contra value.
